Welcome to my Wandering Apothecary! I am commonly known as the Wisp, and I'm delighted to receive you. Allow me to regale you with the story of my little rest stop!

Since the very beginning, I have been entirely in love with the ability humans have to make medicine from nature. From the simplest to the most advanced, I am most taken with the former- and how on all parts of the globe, different humans have carried on different ways of working with their environment to heal, woven uniquely into each culture.
As a traveller and an observer, I became enamoured with watching and learning how different types of humans- living in radically different environments- came to use their surrounds to care for their communities.
Apothecaries can cover a fairly impressive scope of healing types- and one that I see as highly necessary is the act of rest. My gaze widened and I became further enamoured with the concept of bath and tea houses, bus and train stops, and other places folk often gathered to recoup.
In equal measure, the concept of the Romani, travelling circuses (a la Cirque du Soleil), carnivals, and all manner of folk who roved the countryside to bring mirth and merriment- and a sense of enlightenment within themselves in the process- further enchanted my vision.
What I strive to embody in what I make is all those feelings. The feeling of being so comfortable in your skin, you can relax wherever you may be, and feel encouraged to keep going and keep enjoying life, wherever your journey may take you.
For those who haven't come across the Wandering Apothecary at pop-up markets by way of introduction, seeing the travelling cart may offer some insight into how I strive to manifest this feeling for in-person interaction experiences.
🌿💛🌿Having cultivated careful sourcing across local and far-flung small producers alike, I have built a modest collection of body care wares that incorporate a wide array of natural ingredients- each with their own beautiful background of how they are used in the resident culture- from all around the world.

With a library of over 70 unique scent palettes to choose from- which utilises a combination of essential oils, and fragrance oils made with non-synthetic carriers and no harsh chemicals, to eliminate the irritation that often comes with fragrance oils- there is something for everyone of the whimsical and quaint-at-heart!

A Bit About the Apothecary's Most-Loved

If you're looking for an everyday-troubled-skin solution that works, The Wanderer's All-Purpose Salve certainly does not mess around- it is thick, creamy and heavy-duty, made to soothe all manner of suffering skin! Spread a little on and discomfort from eczema/psoriasis/rosacea patches, bug bites, burns, cracking dry skin, scar tissue, irritated/healing/dry tattoos, and many others will fade almost instantly as the all-natural butters and oils nourish and repair your skin, leading to faster healing times and vastly healthier skin.
Don't forget to wash your hands! 👏 If you aren't washing as often as you would like because of how dry it makes your skin, worry no more: Carnival Soaps are vegetable glycerin that has been shaped into all manner of fancy shapes to give that little extra accent to your washroom! Made with no preservatives and infused with raw, unprocessed, food-grade butters and oils (ingredients vary by soap and are listed), only the good stuff will be rubbed into your skin when you decide the time is finally right to use it.
If your own stank has you down in the pits, slather our special mud on yours - no, really! Try a pot of the Wanderer's Mud; more universally recognised as antiperspirant deodorant, a pea-sized dollop rubbed under each arm will help wick moisture accumulation and mute body odour, without actually clogging your pores to do so. Choose from the scent library to accent it with- or reach out on social media to build your own palette- and let the mud do the rest, whether you are a professional cosplayer at a convention in Texas during the summer, or a renaissance faire performer out in the sun for several weekends in a row, or a general contractor working in rain, sleet or shine!

A Bit on What I Make

Everything is handmade individually by one pair of loving hands, meaning nothing is ever produced in large batches and every ingredient is customisable.♻️
Salve + balm tins and deodorant pots are fully recyclable and reusable (or you can mail me back your empty vessel and I will refill it - more on that here), and soaps are wrapped in a combination of banana leaves and upcycled kraft paper, which can be composted or recycled and will fully biodegrade. Even the poly mailers used for shipping online orders are made out of compostable material, and can be reused.
I want to reconnect people with the ability to appreciate beautiful things, while acknowledging they will be gone one day. To me, modern society is one obsessed with preservation and instant gratification simultaneously— nothing is cherished because everything can be replaced, yet if replacement is not guaranteed things are hoarded until their original purpose has passed. So drink that special tea before it goes stale. Use that fancy soap before it gets old.
Love what you have while you have it, and for what it is.
That is why I carry on, and the message I wield through something globally necessary— self care.

Thank you so much for pursuing this avenue!

I deal in the temporary. Everything I make will one day be used down to nothing- and what can be reused, I want to encourage and make accessible, to show that a little effort truly goes a long way and isn't as troublesome as it seems.

In other words, reducing and/or eliminating waste is incredibly important to me, and I try to embody this in every possible element of my craft. As part of that- if you are a regular or plan on ordering from me again in the future- you can help by mailing me back your empty pots and tins! They are durable and hold up a long time- I have been refilling my personal salve tin and deodorant pot for years.

Here's how you can, too:

1. Reach out to me via the Contact form or social media (Instagram/Facebook) and let me know you are interested in a refill2. I will provide you a shipping label for mailing your empty vessel back to me, and a discount code for your next order - which must, of course, contain the refill of your choosing. It can even be a different scent!⚠️
Open mailers from Petrichorum carefully, using the perforation at the top! They are made of biodegradable material and have two seals, meaning they are resealable. If you use the mailer sent to you for mailing back your empty pot or tin, I will compost it myself here on our homestead, ensuring there truly is nothing that goes to waste.

That's it! Thank you, once more, for helping me make a difference, one small gesture at a time 💚

✨ Blended individually each time, so you always get a unique, one-of-a-kind palette ✨
